Transit Columbus is an all-volunteer non-profit advocacy group powered by our community.

We are run, first and foremost, by our members and community. While we work directly with the city, COTA, MORPC, and other organizations, it is as constituents and community leaders.

Mission

Together we work to transform our mobility options to center people and communities, increase equity, and expand opportunity.

The Transit Columbus Board

We are a working board. Since Transit Columbus has no staff, we volunteer our time to build community, advocate on behalf of our members with COTA and city leadership, and provide empowering and educational programming to Transit Columbus members.

Transit Columbus FAQs

  • Transit Columbus was organized in 2011 by community members who had long been working on sustainability and sustainable transportation. They believed that Columbus residents and the Columbus region could never reach our fullest potential without major improvements in sustainable transportation, most importantly a high capacity public transit system.

Since our organization came into existence we have advocated for better transit, pedestrian, and cycling infrastructure on the local and state level, hosted events, and worked to raise the profile of transit and transit related issues.

  • Transit Columbus is a 501c3 non-profit organization with a Board of Directors and Board Officers. In early 2022 our organization made the decision to transition to a more community driven organization. This means we are looking to empower community members to advocate for sustainable transportation and seeking your involvement in our organization and in all our advocacy work.

The easiest way to get involved is to attend one regular meetings or events.
