Great post! Columbus is going to change its leadership to improve. We live in a city that has made a tragic investment in 130 new parking meters on high st. They are doing it under the premise to attract retail yet they are really excited about parking ticket revenue. Its a scary place on high st when a car , bike and bus are all merging into the same lane to avoid a parked car.

I am surprised that Salt Lake is not on this list. I visited family there a couple of years ago. The city seemed a lot more expansive than Columbus yet had a growing and thriving light rail system. Columbus would be a more lively city with a light rail system of some kind. I would visit Downtown locations more frequently if I did not have to worry about finding a place to park and dealing with traffic. There is nothing more frustrating than meeting friends for a movie and then getting stuck in the middle of traffic following a Blue Jackets game.

I linked here from a Facebook posting by Consider Biking. I like your broader mission better because it fits my approach to transportation. Please keep in touch about progress on your mailing list. Also, I just finished a degree in a communication field from Franklin University and I might be able to help in some way.

I'm in favor of rail transit, but I do think we could get a lot more use out of the bus system. The biggest problem I see as a frequent bus rider is the fact that journeys by bus take twice as long as those by car in most instances outside of downtown.

I have provided many suggestions to COTA on reducing the number of stops and re-routing certain routes to avoid congested areas with little success. Additionally, a contact-less smart card would be much faster than the current magnetic swipe fares, and more environmentally friendly (as they are reusable). Unfortunately, change comes slow to such an organization.

I think this is a fantastic approach to our lack of transit options in Columbus. The more information, voices, posts, tweets, etc. there is the better the awareness. Keep it up!
